I took a bold step recently and applied to be a volunteer photographer for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep, which is an organization of photographers who provide private photo sessions and CD's or DVD's of the images (free of charge) for families who are faced with the loss of an infant. I have been accepted as a photographer and digital retouch artist, and now I wait for my first session. Yikes! I have no doubt that this will be extremely rewarding, but at the same time terribly challenging and emotionally draining. I can't imagine the sorrow and heartbreak that these families must suffer through, and I am eternally grateful for my own family's excellent health.
